I have a 2007 MTD/YardMan 38" riding mower. Model # 13AC762F755. Got mower out and did basic maintenance a few weeks ago. When I took it on a test run, the blades wouldn't engage. The spring and cable on the deck were very loose, so I bought a new one. Put it on today and still blades won't engage. Can anybody give me some suggestions as to what to do or check next? Belt, Pulley????

Getting Very Frustrated and don't have the money or a way to take it to someone to get it looked at.

Sounds like you have the belt run wrong.
To put it crudely it looks like a drawing on a d??k on a dunny wall. ( funny how most people remember this description )
If a pulley is flat then the back of the belt runs on it and if it is a V then the inside runs on it.
The belt run will be in the owners hand book which you can download from MTD for free if you have lost yours
