  • / Help with mounting Grass Catcher bags/hardware on 8461 and 22261
I recently bought two Commercial Lawn Boy mowers at an estate sale and a box with Lawn Boy grass catcher/mulching plate/grass catcher chute parts. One Model is a 8461 (1987 self propelled) and the other a 22261 (2002 3-spd self propelled). I am basically trying to figure out if the 2 bags/hardware are complete and correct for either or both of these mowers. I am attaching pictures to try and help sort it out.

Question 1. I am reasonably sure brackets “A” and “B” are lower mounting brackets going between the handles somehow. I can not seem to make either of them fit on either mower but do seem to come close on the 8461 but, no way on the 22261. Can anyone point me towards a parts breakdown or a closeup photo of either of these catcher brackets actually mounted?

Question 2. Do the bags “C” and/or “D” use these brackets, “A” and/or “B” along with the catcher chute in the photos?

Question 3. I am assuming that the upper handle grass catcher mounting hardware is completely missing for both style bags. Any information including differences in what is needed for the 2 bags to complete the mounting would be appreciated.

Question 4. I have seen a grass catcher kit on Amazon (Staggered Wheel Kit 89906 $105.00) that looks like it would fit any side discharge Lawn Boy. Is that the only option for the Commercial 22261?

Just a new “Old” guy trying to sort this out and not sell anything I can actually use or buy anything I don't really need.

Go to Toro.com and look under parts. There you can get manuals for each unit, which should help you out.

Thanks for the reply Lawn King. I had been looking for and at "Lawn Boy" web sites and had not thought about trying "Toro". A quick look has given me some ammunition and catcher part numbers to look up. Thank you.

Wow,,,nice find. The 22261 looks in mint shape. The brackets and bags look like they go to the older Lawn-Boy. The 22261 used a different more rounded black plastic shoot, but the older style may work on it also. They make a side bag too, something to consider, still available from Toro.

Nice find, I have a duraforce with the same deck and I would like to convert to commercial, Just to change the tank, shroud, and recoil with new parts is 230.00 or so. The homeowner version has a wimpy shroud and tank configuration that is only held on by 3 screws into plastic barbs. I would just configure that dura force for mulching, You will need mulch fan to go underneath the blade, pretty easy to find if you do not have one. With out the fan that deck will not mulch worth a shat.
