Starter issue

Got a free 917376741 with broke push bar. Owner said it ran fine. Battery is gone but starter remains. The pushbutton/key switch is kinda broke so I unplugged the harness. I jumped the starter and it cranks fine but I have no spark. There is an interlock switch next to blade brake mechanism on side of motor. The leads run from the starter harness to switch. Is this to prevent cranking if blade brake is on? Any chance the wiring would affect no spark issue? Key-switch-starter. Where does the ground lead from coil route too?

Try pulling up your model repair manual with a schematic on line.

You need a wiring diagram for sure. It will be your road map to this repair.

I took off shroud. Kill wire routes to lever near brake mechanism. Typical 6.75 bs motor. Coil measures 4.7k ohms. No spark. Coil gap is .010

Got a new coil. Started fine. Seems the $15 coil has about 1/2 the windings of old coil. Sure is smaller.
