After disengaging the transmissions to move around in the shop, the right side wont re-engage. The levers "feel" the same, but no reaction from one side.
Is there anything I can try without dismantling it?

try to dis-engage the one side and re-engaging it. when you re-engage it make sure it is rotated fully (usually it rotates either 90 or 180 degrees.
