So I recently acquired this mower. I've got a quick question about how the transmission works. It has a F-N-R shifter below the seat, then 6 speeds up on the front. It says shift on the go, does that mean it's basically a hydrostat with set positions (6 in this case)? I drove it around the yard and the transmission works great.

The transaxle only has forward and reverse and N
The speed is controlled by two belts and a pulley.

Shift on the go means you can change speeds without stopping which was the case with the old solid gear gearboxes.
Was a big marketing hype for varidrive speed selectors
Causes a lot of problems with the transaxle as idiots think they can go forewrd to reverse without stopping
I do quite a few drive pinions on thse mowers cause owners don't understand.
