Hey all,

I just replaced the battery on my Husqvarna LT18542, and now the starter spins, but won't engage the flywheel. The general consensus is that the battery may be hooked up backwards? I'm pretty mechanically inclined, but we've all been known to make mistakes . I'm out on a business trip, so I haven't had a chance to check if the leads are installed on the wrong terminals, i.e. neg to pos/pos to neg. Any other reason this would be happening?

Cheers,
Adam

The solenoid must be energized and working to couple the electric starter to the flywheel teeth. Check for 12 v at solenoid and that it responds to key. The teeth must mesh properly so the PN of any replacements must be compatible.

If the battery is hooked up properly, my bet is that you will have to look at the bendix gear on the starter.
