Has anyone attempted this, I've been looking online no success. I want to replace the manual blade engagement with an electric pto clutch. Would appreciate a point in the right direction.

Shaft on engine will not be long enough.

That's disapointing.

I have not checked your model but AFAIK the shafts are all 3 & 1/2".
However what will be different is the alternator.
The manual PTO engines only have a small alternator just to recharge the starting battery.
Electric PTO models have a bigger alternator so it can power the clutch and still have enough left over to recharge the battery.

I put an electric PTO on a 1966 Rover ( local brand) because I use it with an up front slasher.
I get two tanks ( about a gallon ) worth of mowing then the battery is too flat to start the mower.
A shed full of dead engines and not a single big alternator that will fit.

Well, I was not planning on pulling the shaft to get a measurement, now I will have to. I was planning on pulling the Alternator and upgrading to a 10/12 amp. I also want to add some LED task lighting. It gets dark quick in Louisiana sometimes and I get home from work late.

I asked this a few years ago and was told it's not worth the time and money.
I did it anyways. Even if your engine has the short shaft it will work.
You will need a new motion drive pulley. And build a bracket to hold the clutch in place. I changed my idler pulleys to 3 inch wide ones. Because the clutch sits up a little higher then the stock pulley.

Run the power off of the alternator wire that goes to the battery. No need to go up on amps.

Nice! If you don't mind me asking, what model of clutch did you use? I'm leaning toward a warner 5217-35, should be the same size as the pto pulley.

I used a Warner they are the best.
Don't remember the part number.
It's ok to go a little bigger but not smaller.
