I have a generac 17500watt generator. It runs fine without any load. I put a small load on it (3.5A from a 3ft fan) and the generator starts to "sway".
Here is the video. What do you gurus think could be wrong with this beast?

Absolutely nothing.
That appears to be nothng more than a torque reaction
If anything the rubber feet might be a little on the soft side.

The engine is surging. You have a fuel problem. Has the fuel been sitting in the carburetor for a long time? You might try to adjust the carburetor if it is adjustable and if not a good cleaning.

Don't really hear anything wrong, although it is a very short video. As reynoldston said, may need a little carb adjustment and/or cleaning. If you have a good VOM, I would check both the no load and load Voltage and Hertz. This will tell you if the genset is operating properly.

Yeah I made it really short. Can see the genset swaying? It's not a very smooth sound - like it's grunting - once i take off the load, the genset sings (loud but it sure does sing).

Yes the genset has been sitting. I purchased it used with old fuel (genset is around 5yr old). I have to agree, sounds like it could be a carb and fuel issue.
