I have a old log splitter with a HS50 Tecumseh engine in it. The engine has seen it better days, using oil and puffs out of the breather vent bad. I was thinking it was OH time till I started pricing parts. Parts and my labor it will be cheaper to replace the engine with a Chinese Predator engine. I know someone who uses the Predator to race in his go-cart and has had very good luck with it. Has anybody bought one of these engines and if so what experience have you had with it? 119 dollars from HF buys a 6.5 HP Predator engine.

Only problem I have seen with these engine is parts. They are clones, so parts for Honda and Briggs are used most often. Problem occurs when you need parts other than normal maintenance. Paying me to try to find parts is not cost efficient, due to low cost of replacing engine. To me they are throw away not repairable engines.
