I have a 1981 murray mower 11hp 38 deck
The model # is 81-36670
Though it runs well i would like to change the belts, blades and do a tune up
But alas a manual is not to be found and though i found a parts diagram with part numbers.
They all come up " item not found"
Any one know where i could parts for this older mower?
I would greatly appreciate it

I have a 36 " of the mid 1980s and was not aware of a 38". Designations were changed around sometimes from year to year like nobody at murray could decide what they wanted.

Here is an example of mine.
2-36503
2 - The last digit of the year. Mine is a 1982
36 - 36" deck.
503 - tractor model

The last I bought parts they weren't all that difficult to find. I have a operators manual with part numbers that may help you with finding parts.

Apologys
you are correct it is a 36 and not a 38.
I gave up on trying to do the drive belt( most difficult belt ive ever seen car or mower lol) so i had a small shop down the street put it on
And now im told the mower isnt charging my battery back up and i need a new generator?
They offered to do the other belts sparkplug and blades but i am more then capable of doing those
I just need the to find the parts i need there
I appreciate your help

That motion belt would be difficult without the manual showing the procedure. Who would guess the belt install begins by placing it over the tranny shifter that's there between your legs. Just going by what I recall without looking at the book.

If I can remember to check I may have two manuals from that era.

Interesting...I just found out you can order all the deck parts through sears parts direct using model # 403131 but only the deck?
And yes thats what the guys at the shop told me about the belt, I would have never thought about that
Very strange machine

I'm not too much up on electrics; in fact I find AC rather shocking at un-announced times, but it seems as if I read somewhere long ago that a bad diode in the gen wire can cause charging failure.

If younger you can get down on your knees to work on them. If you're older elevate it about 3 ft.

Put up the part numbers you need, there should still be some around.
