How well does the FR691V Kawasaki 23 HP engine compare with say the FX? Or, any of the other Kawasaki 23 Hp engines.

It's my understanding that, other the the air filtration systems being different - they're basically the same engine.

Or, are they...?

Do the FR series engines start with lower overall quality or just are as good as any other Kawasaki 23 hp?

Anyone know the various differences?

Thanks!

When I went on the big research several years ago reading on air cooled Kawasaki engines yes the air filtering, engine covers, and carburetor was the three things that stood out. The FR was always classified as a heavy duty residential engine and to my knowledge Kawasaki only makes two series engines "rated" better than the FR, which are the FS and FX.

Nwatson99,

Thanks for the response!

I would like to know what the differences are specifically between the beyond the various series, i.e. filteration, carburetoration, etc.

Or, as I think, maybe except for the above, it's (the FR) basically the same engine?

I neglected to mention, I saw an ad for a "commercial grade" mower equipped with a FR691V engine, which I thought kind of odd, as it's on my residential grade MX5060.

Funny you said that, there are many companies claiming to have a commercial mower that are not.

I've researched and can't find if the FX is basically the same engine as the FR, except it's provided with a better air filtration system and perhaps a better carb system.

I've looked and looked and I've turned up exactly zero about any other differences.

Anyone here know what the other differences might be?

Thanks!
