Why does my Husqvarna (Kohler engine) blow white smoke after mowing for about 2 hours? Is the 10W30 oil breaking down?

glost, Light weight oils can slip by piston rings a little, but IMO they are better at lubrication and cooling. If piston and rings are ok that little bit of oil getting by should not smoke. Check to be sure the white smoke is coming from the exhaust and not burning off the exhaust from spatter or drips. "Break down" is an overworked word that refers to depletion of additives, but the oil still lubes. True break down occurs at around 390F when oil vaporizes and will burn. Look at your plugs to see if they are oily or heavily coated. Sorry so late. Hope you see this to know we care.
