89 murray rear engine 11hp 30" 12v wiring help

wouldnt start. looked around and found the wires wore off the posts on the wire array near the battery(coil?) one thick red wire was still on. the one that goes to the starter.
the other 3 were dangling. i re-clipped them. problem, what post do they go to?
i found the remains of 2 connectors on the left post nearest the battery, but the black wire has no sign of where it goes. the battery red pos seems to go on the left post nearest the battery.
but no matter what combo i use, i cant get it to make a noise where its trying to start. battery is charging.
does anyone have a factory diagram or explain where my 3 wires go?

yes...i sit on the seat, disengage the blade, and press in the clutch...then turn the key.

We need more info. Find the model number off of the tag on the rear of the mower should be enough, as those mowers were
wired pretty simple...

Like Fish said the model # would help.
However I will take a stab at it.Thick red cable from battery goes to solenoid post closest side to battery, small red wire goes on the same post. If you trace the small red wire there should be a fuse, I would check the fuse. Other side of solenoid thick red wire goes to starter. There should be a connection towards the bottom of the solenoid for the small black wire.

fuse is good.
little red to battery side no go.
little red to stater side with black to left side..it cranks weak.
charging battery now.

I was unable to locate a wiring diagram for this model. The small red wire has the fuse and leads to the ignition switch, correct? Where does the black wire go to?

Little black goes to small post on solenoid.

dang. shoulda waited. just blew my fuse guessing.
thanks for the diagram. im assuming when you say black wire to small post...its the 3rd thin post on the side of the solenoid, not part of the 2 big ones on top?

So the little black wire is fused not the small red wire?
