Is this a good deal?
It is in excellent condition. It has a 42" deck, 20 OHV Briggs, hydrostatic tranny.
It is beige in color with a 12 gauge deck.
Let me know what you think.

It would help if we had pictures, but I would suggest looking at this link for pricing: http://www.tractorhouse.com/list/list.aspx?ETID=1&catid=1170&Manu=CRAFTSMAN.
Also, # of hours?

I think it is an OK price, but there are definitely cheaper ones out there....I think that link will help a lot!

Also, check out this link...it shows some Craftsman mowers on Craigslist so you can look at the prices: http://kansascity.craigslist.org/se...=craftsman+tractor&srchType=A&minAsk=&maxAsk=.

the briggs engine is probably worth about half that. the only thing i dont like about it is that its hydrostartic but if you just going to mow then it looks like a good mower! you could also plow with that thing. it looks like something that i would buy.

The reason I like it is its a hydro!
Is a manual any better?
I've got a Murray 5 speed now, and it's a pain in the butt to have to stop when you want to change speeds!

well the transaxles are stronger and whatever. my mtd is a shift-on-the-go where you dont have to press the brake/clutch pedal. but if your just going to cut the grass then you'll be fine. manuals i like because you can do wheelies with and have fun. i am in the process of trying to make an offroad mower. but that craftsman looks like a great deal. plus, its a craftsman!

Is it a good deal, depends on how you look at it and what you want. Remember looks can be deceiving. How old is the mower. Does it have spindles with grease fittings and how about the front end does it have grease fittings? How about the hours on the motor? I've heard a lot of people say the Intek isn't one of there better engines. If I were you and I was truly interested in the mower I'd take it to the shop and have it checked out and if the guy says no that then walk away. Is it a good deal, I don't really know but my guess is no not at $850 maybe $475 this is why

Yeah, I'm just gonna mow with it, so I think it'll be good for me.
Thanks for the input.
