I mentioned in an earlier thread that I was planning on getting the X300 with the 48" deck and the powerflow bagger setup and all of you seemed to think that it was a good option.

The dealer I shop at recently got a 2000 GT235 traded in and I wanted to see what all your opinions on this machine would be compared to the X300. It is a 2000 model and has the Edge 48" deck and already has a powerflow bagger included. The thing has low hours and has been maintained very carefully over the years. The transmission it uses can be serviced and seems to be a beast compared to the K46 and K58 in the current X series. They're asking $2800 which I'm sure can be negotiated.

Which tractor do you think would be the best for a completely flat 3/4 acre lot with few obstacles? There seems to be little or no complaints about the Gt235s online.

Thanks!

In my unprofessional opinion, purely from observation, I think the X300 series tractors are basically 100 series tractors with the better Kawasaki engines, better styling and options. There may be other key differences that I haven't noticed having never owned or used an X300 series. I think I would rather have the GT235, especially if I could get it under $2,500 and it is in near new condition, as it looks in the pictures.

Looking at the Gt235s it looks more solid than the X300
Good luck

What makes this 12 year old 48 inch mower worth $2800 ?
If all your doing is cutting your grass why not get a new mower for less $

I would go with the gt235 I have ran a gt225 with a 48 in commercial grade deck and got the lawn mowed pretty quickly for a 48in deck. It is a very nice mower, if I had the money and the need right now I would consider buying a gt235 or gt225.
