I have a 2001 Yard Machine with a 14.5 HP B&S IC Quiet that is nearly dead...I also have a Craftsman with a 15 HP B&S IC Gold that has been sitting for 10 years or so. Will they interchange? Do you all think I should replace the seals and gaskets in the 15 HP since it has been sitting so long? It does turn by hand easily and ran good before it was left to sit. I'm not sure of the year...around 98/99 I'd guess. Would the carb interchange? Thanks all. P.S. I do have all the numbers wrote down if needed.

We will need the all model numbers from both engines.

Thank you for the reply. Ok...the motor that is on the mower now is Model: 287707 Type:1255-E3 Code: 9912277E Family: YBSXS.5012VP 274532 The motor on the Craftsman I'd like to use is: Model: 28N707 Type: 0160 01 Code: 9404274A There wasn't a sticker with the family numbers. Thanks again.

Ok, the engine on the craftsman was built in 1994 and the engine on the Yard Machine was built in 1999. Do you really want to replace a 1999 engine with a 1994 engine. If so I will continue to check it out.

Thank you Rivets. Money is tight and I have to work with what I have. I might try to run the older one as is but I have no experience with the B&S OHV engines. Will the valve seals dry out when left to sit?

I understand, just had to ask. Seals do dry out, but I wouldn't replies them just because it was sitting. I'll try to get you info on if they can be swapped today. Working on another thread that has me stumped right now.

I think you can swap but. Two things to look at before swapping. If the PTO end of the crankshaft are the same length and diameter. If not no swap. If the charging wires coming out of the engine are the same. If not, you will have to do some rewiring, but could work.

Thank you Rivets, much appreciated. What kinda puller is used for the main pulley? I can borrow a puller and check em out here at home instead of carting both mowers to my uncles shop.

What type of puller? What ever works. It should drop off once you remove the bolt. Sometimes a little tapping with a hammer and some penetrating oil helps.
