    MS4601 Piston scarring

Turn down your speakers. I can see that side pretty good thru the spark plug hole. Obviously not as good. But from what I can see, It's not bad either. I'll definitely check further before ordering a P&C. I'm thinking I gotta be missing something because there's no way that piston can be...

    Zama W-26 Carb. Cleaning

The last shop I worked for, the tech only used this "top engine cleaner and lube" to clean out the inside of 2C carbs. He never used compressed air. He was a very good 2 cycle guy. Just a little bit will do ya.

    Zama W-26 Carb. Cleaning

Soap and water Before removing the 2c carbs, I've sprayed WD40 on them and let them sit for about 5 minutes. Then blow them off with air. Then remove and teardown to clean in the inside (in the USC). Is there a problem with WD on the outside of the carb? (Before removing it from the engine)...

    Scag Cheetah engine issue

Then I'd say it's a safety switch going bad. Since it's only when you push the lever, and the PTO is already engaged.

I'd suggest removing and inspecting the fuel solenoid. Sounds like it could be malfunctioning and about to go out.

When you pull the levers back to neutral, does it pick back up and run normal? Changing parts without knowing which part is bad can get expensive.

    MS4601 Piston scarring

Ooops, it's a MS460... Not a 4601. The customer dropped this off and said it had been sitting a while and just wanted me to check it out. Said he hadn't even tried to start it. So I pulled the plug, which looked fine. Peaked at the cylinder walls, they were fine. Removed the muffler and checked...

Just a blown head gasket or worse ?

345 — Fuel pours from fuel pump overflow tube

I seen too many instances where people have replaced their fuel pump only to have the same issue. But a possible theory about these fuel pumps were that they were simply pumping too hard, and forcing the float to submerge in the bowl via too much fuel pressure. Therefore unseating the needle...

Gas leaking from carb top vent tube

I'm in the process of building me another work bench, that's going to include another carburetor test cradle. Where I can hang a carb that's attached to a fuel tank, to check it for leaks or overflow before installing it. Those are pretty handy with todays amazon carbs. I gotta say, this one...

Gas leaking from carb top vent tube

Right. It was in all the forums I read on this carburetor, with so many people trying so many different things. The one thing that stuck in my head was a video of some guy who I could barely understand, who didn't even know what the parts of the carburetor was. He mentioned something about...

Gas leaking from carb top vent tube

Problem solved (for now). I did a few things, so I'm not quite sure what actually solved the problem. But here's what I did. 1. Removed the new carb and cleaned it. 2. Used the float from the old carb. It seemed to sit as level. But when you turn it right side up, it didn't drop as far. So...

345 — Fuel pours from fuel pump overflow tube

Do you have a gravity fed carburetor or is the fuel tank under your seat? I'm having the same problem with my LX188, in which mine tank is under the seat, and has what looks like a heavy duty fuel pump. I just put a new carburetor on mine, and it still does it. Was about to replace the pump...

John Deere L118 Blades hit together

Not hitting every round doesn't sound like a blade problem. If the blades were hitting each other because they're too long, it would sound more like a machine gun. Remove the deck belt and re-check spindles.

Gas leaking from carb top vent tube

Well, this thread didn't solve anything. I'm having the same issue. Everything new, except the fuel pump. I get what @Rivets said, if the carb is getting fuel, then the pump must be OK. But then again, this is a mechanical fuel pump and since this vent tube apparently goes straight though...

    Carburetor overflowing

Making a new float valve? I'm a pretty good rigging stuff. I once put a brigg needle valve in a Honda 4 wheeler engine. Everything measure the same so I gave it it a shot. And it ran like a top. Back to this. Apparently I had creased that gasket I made before, and I think that was causing an...

Is the Stihl Motomix 50:1 Fuel worth it?

It's been a while, but I think I did some price shopping on those, and IIRC, it was pretty expensive. So what I do is pour the stens 2C oil into one of these. It was kind of a pita getting the oil to the bottom of this bottle. But it makes it easier to get it right.

    Mower blades not turning

If it's the PTO clicking, and not just the switch, then that's very confusing. The click of the PTO itself is it getting about 13.5v and then magnetized, pulling the two components together. When that happens, when the engine is running, there's almost no way for the PTO pulley's to not turn...
