    44P777 Engine Pulley

I doubt it's got a set screw. The only way I know for sure, is to use a torch and heat it up. Put the bolt back in the bottom and use an air hammer. A video I watched a few years ago, shows the guy heating one up with a torch, then cooling it off real quick with water from a garden hose. Heat...

    New spindle bearings, still howling

So after installing the new PGN bearings, I noticed something. Once they're in place, the center race is a tad tighter than before installing them. So I'm guessing that Gravely has Peer make their outer race OD just a .00? smaller than the common size that's available. Everyone spindle...

Can't a single reason for the oil leak.

Some synthetics will seap right through some gaskets. In the 80's I worked a quik lube place where I sold Mobil 1 oil changes. We had so many customers came back with oil leaks. Old ones, new ones. It didn't matter. They told us that it was because Mobil 1's level of detergents that were put...

    Carb adjustment tools

I'm wondering if the screws are the same and only the adjustment restrictors have changed? If so, that would be easy enough to change them out and not have to worry with buying a lot of new tool. Wait, what am I saying? I love buying new tools. 😁😁😁😁

    New spindle bearings, still howling

That's why I replaced these spindle assembly's back in 2019. Threads were stretched from over tightening the blades. Making it impossible to get the inner nut out. But being only a few years old, and the customer keeps it under his carport. I may end up just replacing the assembly's if the new...

    New spindle bearings, still howling

This makes me think the spacer isn't square with the center of the bearing. Even with the shaft inserted. Holy heck. Once the deck is up on the lift, this is normally a 20 minute job. The hardest thing I've ever ran across is getting the old ones out.

    New spindle bearings, still howling

Red & tacky is all I use. Note: All the bearing in this deck are brand new. I just installed them yesterday. I'm thinking I'll loosen them all up and reset them with a smaller impact. I'm using the new 1/2" one. Since Gravely won't provide any torque specs on this bearings. In fact they...

    New spindle bearings, still howling

One thing I just thought about was the first nut that screws about 1" inside the spindle housing. That turns also. And may be be rubbing the inside edge of the spindle housing. I'll try the ears tomorrow. I don't have a stethoscope. But I do have enough extensions to work. Turning the blades...

    New spindle bearings, still howling

FYI, just to make sure, I'm almost positive I got this right. But maybe not. The dust cover goes on top of the bearing, then the small spacer, then the pulley (that welded to the spindle shaft). Or should the spacer be touching the bearing?

I checked them with my my calipers. The only thing that could be wrong with the measurements is the 3rd digit right of the decimal It only will read 2 digits. .00 instead of .000. But the first two on the height, ID and OD match. Something I did notice was after removing that one spindle...

ZT42. 915178 The deck bearings where howling so after replacing them with new, after tightening them up, they still howl. Especially one, that has resistance when I turn the blade. Remove the spindle, and rotate the bearings with your finger, and they're quiet as a mouse. Nice and smooth...

Best Oil To Use For Kawasaki

I knew something was up when I removed the bowl and the jets went laying in the bottom of it. They're supposed to snap in. Give a little click when inserted properly. Right. I get all that. Located under the flywheels. But that's only to relieve the pressure in the crankcase. Pressure in the head gets pushed down into the crankcase when the headgasket between the valves and the push rod valley, upon explosion in the combustion chamber. This is more than the...

That is IF it's blown around the edge, leading to the outside of the engine, right? Because the pressure inside the sump won't increase a whole lot, if it's an internal gasket leak. Will it? Briggs don't normally fail from edges leading to the outside. I've only seen them leak between the...

I'm talking about what Bert said about how one with a blown head gasket will make a dipstick jump several inches, if not all the way out the tube. This one is bobbing only a couple of inches. Probably just a good cleaning. It would move a little both ways, by turning the key off and on. As far as the head gasket goes, I'd better do a leakdown before I start tearing into this. I bought the tool a few years ago, and have only used it once or twice.
