    What's missing in this picture?

Everyone manufacture's engines in China today but to the best of my knowledge, Tecumseh never did. They moved most if not all of their engine production to Brazil and then got into some issue with the Brazilian government and the government locked them out from what I understand.

    What's missing in this picture?

The bad thing about Tecumseh engines was what I heard my former boss and mentor say many times. "You have to be a mechanic to work on a Tecumseh not just a parts changer." If you knew how to work on a float style carb and new how to set the point gap with a dial indicator you would end up with...

    What's missing in this picture?

Was the mower deck orange and the engine gray? We had one when I was a kid. It worked fine but was hard to restart hot.

    What's missing in this picture?

It was somewhat of a rhetorical question and I know people do idle them down for the reasons you mentioned but is it really necessary? It's all personal preference of course but if I'm only taking 10 or 20 seconds to move something I just let it run full and keep as much cooling air flowing over...

    What's missing in this picture?

For some dumb reason they do. Some think the engine is too loud so they run it about about half throttle. I remind them that they are dealing with an "Air Cooled Engine" and when they run the engine slower they are also slowing down their cooling fan. I ask them if they would run their car's...

    Mower starts then immediately dies

I removed part of my post as I see those questions were answered above. When did it last run correctly? Can you keep it running by pumping the primer bulb? Some primer bulbs have a vent hole right where you put your finger when you prime it. Others do not. If yours doesn't and the primer...

    What's missing in this picture?

Some engines have speed controls and some don't. Yours doesn't. Pretty common on Craftsman mowers. Nothing is missing. I really never understood a speed control on a push mower. Why would you ever run the engine at less than full speed?

Kohler KT735 on Hustler Raptor running rough/losing power

Do you have to be mowing with it for it to act up or will it act up just sitting and running?

    Kohler courage 20

If the fuel filter is indeed empty and not just look empty then you have a fuel supply issue upstream from the fuel filter. Just a note about empty looking fuel filters. I've seen plenty of engines running just fine with no noticeable fuel in the fuel filter. The fuel is flowing through fast...

    No oil change?

I realize this is a slightly older post but someone pretty much hit the nail on the head. This is a non commercial engine on a non commercial very budget friendly piece of equipment with a life rating of 115 hours. The oil change interval if it had one would have been 100 hours. Considering the...

can't get Kohler sv-715 to turn over

This engine has no compression release, so valve clearance won't make a difference. So basically, it comes up on compression and stops or does there seem to be something else binding? The starters on those engines were well known for having the shaft bend. When that happens the starter gear...

    40micron fuel filter on a 4hp lv148ea-334005b engine?

Yes. The 13 is 10 micron and there is the 21 and 22. 75 and 51 micron respectively.

    40micron fuel filter on a 4hp lv148ea-334005b engine?

Okay now you have me thinking. Crap. I hate to misspeak on my very first post here. There was an issue of fuel starvation on some brand-new Kohler engines a couple of years ago and we found Kohler had installed their 10 micron filter and thought sure we found the problem. Changed the filter to...

    40micron fuel filter on a 4hp lv148ea-334005b engine?

It will either work or it won't. Worst that can happen if it doesn't is you're out the cost of the filter and will need a new fuel line. Some OEMs are using 10 micron filters on gravity feed systems so my belief is it will be fine.
