Re: Electric starter issue Honda HRX217HMA

In my real job I do deal with nano, pico and femto second timing (development of next generation microchip technology), so to me a few days (or in this case nearly two months) is an eternity! And...

Re: HR 214 stalls when engaging blade

Good catch! It's always hard to know how bad is bad from someone's written description, so I wasn't thinking what you were experiencing was that extreme. Good to hear it's resolved, and a lesson...

Re: HR 214 stalls when engaging blade

I've always had to engage mine with a bit of slip, especially when cold. It's akin to dumping the clutch on your car. It might work, but it's sure hard on the system.

Re: Electric starter issue Honda HRX217HMA

If the starter is in good working order, all wiring is good with clean, low resistance connections, etc., then yes, a good battery should do the trick. But in my experience, these starter motors...
  5. Re: Honda HRM 215: left back wheel doesn't rotate freely !! Help !

As an engineer, my gut feeling is to trust the judgement of my fellow engineers - the guys that designed and built this mechanism. They might not be always perfect, but I believe they know what they...
  6. Re: Honda HRM 215: left back wheel doesn't rotate freely !! Help !

Remember that we are making the rash assumption that your's is the same as mine!

When you remove the 'C' clip and the pinion gear, the woodruff key will become a non-issue. Toss it too, as your...
  7. Re: Honda HRM 215: left back wheel doesn't rotate freely !! Help !

I'm not familiar with your model, but assuming the drive mechanism is similar to the modern units I'd proceed as follows:

The rear mounted transmission routes power to the rear wheels thru a...

    Re: HRX217HYA wheels

Did the pinion service tonight. It rolls so much better now!

Both front and back are approximately 8.5", but the rears have the gear bonded into the center that interfaces with the pinion gear. ...

I've owned my HRX217K2HMA (the electric start version) since April, 2010. I love the performance, but somewhat troubled by the reliability issues encountered. But to be fair, I do put a lot of...

    Re: HRX217HYA wheels

I had the two front wheels off my HRX217K2HMA yesterday to service the height adjusters (clean out and regrease), and they look to me to be pretty common ball bearing wheels. I'll tell you about the...

Re: Electric starter issue Honda HRX217HMA

Well, I'm a bit disappointed that nobody was up to adding any words of wisdom before I took on this task, but I decided to just jump in last night.

Getting the cover off is way harder than it...

Re: Electric starter issue Honda HRX217HMA

New member. Rather than start a new thread, I figured I'd add to this unanswered/unresolved post found thru a search.

I bought an HRX217K2HMA new in April 2010. Believe it or not, I was still...
