Cub 1050 LTX just quit

Mowing grass and my cub 1050 ltx just quit like you turned off the key. Tried to restart, nothing, no clicks, no lights, nothing on the dash. checked the main power fuse and it was good. Disconnected the PTO and the voltage regulator, still nothing. Checked the battery voltage, 12.5v. Anyone have any ideas? I have about 90 hrs on the mower.

Checked the fuse how ?
got battery voltage on both sides ?
If so check the carb solenoid for voltage when the key is on.
No voltage there shows a power failure

And of course did you reset all of the controls, brake on, PTO off ?
More than once I have been called out for a dead mower only to find the owner had forgotten to reset the controls after it had stalled.

It sounds like one of the safety switches is the problem, like Bert said make sure everything is where it should be.
Park brake set drive controls in neutral and mower deck off.
Check that safety switches are in place, one might have come loose.

The initial shut down worrisome as the fuel solenoid powered by the alternator on 2005-07 models and later by alternator through the ignition switch on the 2008 model. None fused at the point of the circuit. I suspect the OP has the 2008 model and a Packard wire terminal may have failed.The later cranking problem can also be caused by same terminal but need to be sure that 12v is or isn't at the B terminal of the ignition switch as the cranking circuit is fused coming from the battery.

But we do the OP to post the model number from the serial number tag and to chime otherwise.

Well, when the mower first quit I checked the battery voltage and it was about 10.5 volts. Should have given me a clue. I charged the battery back to 12.5v + but it still wouldn't make a sound. Today I got a new battery, installed it and it fired right up and I cut some grass with it. The old battery was exactly 4 years old. Guess it was time. Don't quite understand why no lights or anything would work even with 10.5 v or why the motor just quit. I'm going to check the charging system tomorrow. thanks for all your help!

Sometimes a battery will show good voltage, but when load is applied it takes a crap.
