    predator valve cap

I watch James Condon on you tube, I think him to be the most methodical and meticulous of the many small engine repair guys on there. He often points out that many motors have but one of those caps. And they do pop off when valve lash gets out of hand. Check service manual before you put one on.

    Changed my mind

I always thought Toro was junk anyway. They turned Wheel Horse into trash long ago. My dad was a big fan of toro, i did the fixing of them and seemed like cheap stuff to me decades ago, never got any better. These youtube mower guys are always fixing time cutter models, they seem to come right...

LT1000 - Misfires and stalls out

Take gas tank out, clean thoroughly, replace all fuel lines. Run with tank cap off. If problem recurs, ypu do not have a fuel delivery issue. If problem goes away, replace with OEM gas cap.

    Backfiring through the exhaust

Blow shop air backwards thru fuel line to clear any obstructions. Costs nothing. Fuel starvation can cause intermittent back fire

    Broadmoor Transmission Merci no Reversi

2015 Broadmoor forward pedal normal feel and action, however reverse pedal very difficult to push and almost no reverse motion. less than 400 hours on it. Seems to me that the little shock absorber at the end of the transmission actuator rod may be binding up. I pulled the boot off it and...

    Briggs popping

Take fuel cap off first, leave it off and test drive. Cap has one way vent in it. If vent stops working becomes a fuel supply issue. Costs nothing to test these issues before you start wrenching and open your wallet.

    Briggs popping

Might be partial blockage of fuel. Blow some air through line backwards to tank.

    Prestige 50" Raise Cutting Height

I have an electric lift Broadmoor and a manual lift Conquest, they both have cut height indicator which goes to 4". However the lift mechanisms on both also tend to bind up due to crud building up under the semi-round keepers which hold the acutator pole to the top of the deck. So I regularly...

    Dies in 20 minutes CC30 H

Take a piece of cloth cut in 8" diameter circle, remove the fuel tank cap and replace with cloth held on with rubber band. If motor then works fine for long periods you may then want to get a new OE gas cap. Have had this problem on mowers and cars way back into the 70s. Usually a blocked fuel...

    Afterfire?

I have a recent year Simplicity Broadmoor with a 25HP Briggs less than 400 hours on it. It has a tendency to go into a severe backfiring when you shut the throttle down. On the Briggs site they say this is normal and they call it afterfire. To avoid it one should run ethanol free gas, which I...
