    Roaches in Mulch? Help!

Nope, there were no Geckos before my wife bought the mulch. I'm glad that we sold that house. Thankfully, we didn't bring any with us to our new home. She's also forbidden from buying mulch from Big Box stores.

    Roaches in Mulch? Help!

Mulch that you buy at Big Box stores is likely to have any number of invasive species in the bags. We never had Geckos at our house until my wife bought bagged mulch from Lowe’s. If you want something like mulch, buy pine straw or hay locally.

Deck belt damaged after 1st mow with Z248F

One more thing to add. Make sure that the deck is lowered to the desired cutting height before engaging the PTO. Disengage the PTO before raising the deck for storage.

Deck belt damaged after 1st mow with Z248F

Lower your deck all the way down. Look for anything rubbing on the belt. Release the belt tension spring and check that all of the pulleys are in proper working order. Also, check for nicks in the pulleys. Make sure the pulleys are cinched down good.

    Let's talk about blade sharpening?

I don’t follow a set angle. I follow the original blade angle. After a while, you just know.

    Let's talk about blade sharpening?

I freehand sharpen with a 4” angle grinder with a 40 grit flapper wheel. I have a cheap 2 piece Oregon balancer. It gets the job done. I have to put sharp blades on around every 12 hours. I cut 3 acres once a week. By the way, the OP needs new blades.

simplicity 2050 zero turn mower 1694455 rusted deck

Maybe a Snapper deck will fit. Maybe a Ferris deck will fit. Call around to your local mower shops. They may have some non-running Snappers, Ferris or Simplicity mowers with the correct deck.

    Liberty Z 48 1/2 acre?

If you do buy the Scag Liberty Z 48, get the Kohler engine. The other two are a 708cc Loncin and a Briggs and Stratton. You really don’t need a stripe kit. If your deck is set properly and you have sharp blades, the cut will look great. Go and look at all of your local dealerships and ask...

Do I need a new spindle

See what @Rivets said above. You need to know exactly what is bent or broken before buying anything. That means that you are going to need to start removing parts. A good place to start is to get the deck out from under it. Being that it’s a Snapper, you may have trouble locating parts.
  17. M

Do I need a new spindle

You had better look it over good. All sorts of stuff could be messed up. The deck could be bent or torn. You want know anything until you look and start pulling parts off.

Do I need a new spindle

Hold up just a minute. Doesn’t the 33” Snapper only have one blade? You’ve got more problems than a spindle. https://www.ereplacementparts.com/snapper-331413kve-rear-engine-rider-series-parts-c-207777_207778_208178.html

    2013 Tiger Cat

Make sure that you have the tires aired up to the recommended pressures. Level and pitch the deck. Level from side to side and pitched down 1/4” in the front. Use standard lift Scag blades or equivalent aftermarket replacement. This will cut down on some of the dust. It will give you a good cut...

    Tire pressure

Lower air pressure will help with some of the slipping. I had a similar size Toro ZX5400. I ran 15 up front and 13 in the rear. That setup was settled on after some trial and error.

Gravely 48 ZT XL48…cut sucks; deck leveling difficulty…

Very similar mower. After all, Gravely is under the Ariens umbrella.
  24. M

    Tire pressure

With those recommended pressures, I would set at the lowest for each. 15 psi for rear and 20 psi for front. If it’s too bumpy, drop the rear pressure to 12-13 psi for rear and 15 psi for the front.

Toro time cutter SW5000 Head bolt torque specs

You are welcome. A 10mm bolt is pretty close to a 5/16” bolt. You certainly don’t want to booger up the threads in the block or break the bolt off. All that’s needed is proper clamping pressure on the head gasket. Here is the SAE chart. 5/16” bolts also list 24 ft.lb...

Toro time cutter SW5000 Head bolt torque specs

I know! 150 ft.lb. is the torque spec on the lug nuts of my F-150. The book says 38 ft.lb. A 10mm bolt is about the same size as a 5/16” bolt.

Toro time cutter SW5000 Head bolt torque specs

https://outdoorpowerinfo.com/engine_specs/kohler_head_torques.asp So, 38 pound feet is probably correct for the Loncin engine. It lists 10mm x 1.25 bolts so, it cannot be 180 pound feet. I hope that you are using new bolts of the correct grade.

    Deck Design ??

There should be however, the chute blocker serves the same purpose. Look at some Hustlers, SCAGs, Gravely, and others. Very few of these have full length rounded front baffles. You are going to get a certain amount of grass accumulation on the front of any brand of mower. Blade selection and...
  35. M

    Deck Design ??

It sure looks like those are mulching baffles under there. I expect to see something like SCAG or Gravely uses for side discharge. Modified V baffles that parallel the front leading edge of the deck.
  36. M

    Tire pressure

I run 13psi all around on my Pro Turn 260. It will be up to you for your personal comfort. I suggest to try 12 psi in the rear and 15 psi up front and adjust for your comfort.
  37. M

    Deck Design ??

It certainly looks like a mulching deck. I certainly wouldn’t spend the time or money modifying the deck. You could try running without the front baffles or play around with different blades. Scrape the underside of your deck when you change or sharpen your blades. There are two that you could...

    Deck Design ??

@RayMcD Tell us something about your deck. Are those baffles part of the mulching kit? If they are, where are the standard baffles? If that is the mulching kit baffles, you will need mulching blades and not high lift blades. If you want to side discharge, you will need the side discharge...

  42. M

    Deck Design ??

Try different blades on your mower before getting in too deep. The part number for your blade indicates that they are flat notched high lifts. Rotary make a 1/4” offset blade with a rolled lift. I would definitely try those before spending a lot of time and money. Gravely uses the same style...
