Note: The charging system on the 350777-1159 small engine was designed for John Deere. The voltage regulator has an extra orange wire that must be connected to the accessory terminal of the keyswitch. This voltage regulator needs to have 12 volts from the battery only in the "on" position of the keyswitch to allow the regulator to monitor the battery voltage and better regulate the charge rate. However, this connection needs to be broken in the "off" position when the engine is not running so it does not run the battery down. Connect the Red wire to the battery to "charge" and the orange from the keyswitch to "activate" the regulator. Tan wire is for a charge indicator light, (3-watt)

I just noticed your PM, wish they were more obvious when they are there...
I noticed you are having an hour meter problem also.
Check the key switch to see if you are getting power to the hour meter and to the orange wire in the voltage regulator... It has to supply 12 volts with the key on and zero volts with the key switch off.
I doubt that this is fused power but if you have fuses check them and check that they are making good contact in their holders.
This is what I could find as to anything special for the B & S Vtwin when used in a John Deere... Hope this is of some help...
Oops this is too long so I will do it in 2 parts... :smile:KennyV
