BTW - If any of you are having the problem of your mower won't go up hill or won't move at all in lower gears and or only moves unless you 'pop' the clutch. AT 3:43 in this video...just under that silver pulley is a threaded rod, That is the adjustment to fix that, you'll want to move it toward the front of the mower. It's not easy to move the arm it sits on but with a 'long' bar and being 'very' careful what you are prying against - you can get it to move.

To reinstall heavy springs like the one in the video, get a piece of rope similiar in diameter to a push mower pull cord and double it up and tie a strong knot in it. Slip one end over the of the spring you are trying to put in place and pull it till the spring goes where you need it. Doubling the rope decreases the likelihood the rope will break and makes it easier to hold in your hand. If the spring is really a big sucker you can tie the end of the rope you are holding to a large prybar and have two people pull the prybar back till the spring stretches enough to go in place.

Replying to this post does not imply endorsement to the video posted but hey.....at least it worked for you

Hey thanks so much for the video and this part about the control rod. Is there a method to adjusting the rod or how do you know how much to adjust it?

I posted earlier about how to adjust control rod but after taking the body off the mower today, the recently replaced short drive belt is "sticking" in the variable speed pulley, so when you go to a faster speed, the pulley cannot adjust as the belt is stuck deep in the pulley. Its as if once the belt is pressured by the tensioner, the engine drive belt cannot make the vari pulley "slip" up the shaft because the belt won't allow the pulley shears to slide? Is this a worn long belt problem as I didi not replace it with the short belt, or a bad vari speed pulley you think?
