I replaced a 4 year old battery in my z-track mower and used it a couple of times but now battery is dead. Some literature I found on JD web site said the machine uses magneto and charging unit to charge battery. I read the electrical troubleshooting guide that said possible blown fuse. I checked the 3 fuses located under the seat and all are good. Is there a separate fuse for charging unit located on this mower? What is part# of charging unit that could be bad and where is it?

Check the battery with a DC volt meter after starting at high rpm should read at around 13 volts if charging

The charging circuit is not covered by a fuse, check the stator for AC current, and then the rectifier/regulator for DC current.
