XP rear self-propelled will start but not continue running

I have the Troy-Bilt XP Model #12AKD39B011 that was running fine it seemed until I bumped into our mailbox. I'm not sure if that is what caused this because you wouldn't think a little bump would do this especially since I have bumped trees and other stuff before with no problems. To me it seems like it's all of a sudden not getting fuel and possibly running very hot for the short time it did run. I'm not mechanical in the least bit so I'm not sure what to look for. The operation manual doesn't show anything about the engine and I can't find the engine manual it refers to. Any suggestions or where I can find an engine manual would be great. Thanks

Have a close look at the throttle linkages.
Oft when you bump into some thing you bend back the control lever which to the mower is the same as running with a part open throttle.
Be very careful when bending it back as too far will caause the engine to over rev.
There is a fine line between too slow, acceptable rev range & too fast. bang
