Got an OLD John Deere 285 with one of the first Kawasaki's they ever used ...17hp carbureted version .. water cooled .. v-twin. Motor has ALWAYS been a piece of crap ... soft valves ... plastic timing gear riveted to the cam ... lousy carb. All of that has been repaired/replaced, but now, it is just plain OLD. Looking for a replacement for it ... doesn't HAVE to be another KAW ... just want a new motor ... the rest of the little tractor seems to be in pretty good shape.
