I have a problem with the drive belt coming off on my John Deere LX176. Seems like the belt gets stretched. Any ideas?

welcome jackie. are you talking about the drive belt for the transmission or the deck. I have seen problems with non john deere belts not lasting very long or stretching when used as deck belts. have seen transmission belts come off when mower is put is reverse because the transmission support bracket is unconnected causing frame flex throwing the belt off.

ILENGINE has a good point. Not sure about JD, but Ventrac only recommends specific belts for a number of reasons. They TEST TEST TEST and know which belts work and which ones don't. I had a friend brake a belt after 400 hours on his VT, then went to the local shop and picked up a cheapo and broke it within 30 minutes. Lesson learned. Make sure you buy the belt that JD recommends even if it costs you a couple of bucks more.
