Hi, a good rule of thumb is to place a good business card on the magnet of the flywheel & rotate it till the coil aligns with the magnets then loosen the bolts holding the coil so the magnets pull in the coil, then tighten the bolts, turn the flywheel to remove the card. the gap should be .010 - .012 thou. hope this helps.

Piece of paper or card stock

A one dollar bill works well.

I've always done it with a business card or a piece of paper folded over (2 layers). Stick it under the arm and rotate the flywheel until the magnet pulls the arm close, then tighten the bolts. Rotate the flywheel to remove the paper and now you have a nice tight gap.

i was lucky to find a .010 feeler gage 8" long in my brother-in-laws tool box, that he used for gapping the coil/flywheel gap
