Hello all!

I maintain various equipment for my neighbor which includes his Weed Eater/Husqvarna riding mower. I have worked on it a few times over the last few years and the shift lever has always been difficult to move. He called me the other day and said it was stuck in gear. I was able to get it into my garage and fixed an obvious problem first (the retainer that holds the shaft that is connected to the lever was bent out and the shaft had fallen out of place).

I got it up on jacks and removed the linkage from the transmission to inspect everything. I put a square socket directly on the 3/8" square drive that comes out of the transmission, and its VERY hard to move. Is there anything else I can inspect/fix at this point, or is rebuilding/replacing the transmission unavoidable at this point?

Thanks in advance!

So that is a mechanical gearbox I gather ?
If so he has broken shift keys.
Yes it is a box out & repair job
