Hi guy's,

Just aquired a Victa 8/26e ride on lawn mower for free (minus the engine) and need a workshop manual so I can start restoring it. It is in great shape for its age, has been sitting in the corner of a workshop for the last 10 years and has only recently had the engine pulled because someone else wanted it. I saved it from the crusher and hopefuly I can come across a suitable motor to power the old girl.

Any help/info would be greatly appreciated,
Glenn

Have you tried searching online for the Victa manual?

I'd love to find a two-cycle Victa but, since they aren't imported into the USA, I'll probably never get one.

Just picked up another one of these rideon's for free from a local and it is complete, even with the optional cloth catcher that has seen better days but definitely a repairable unit. will post some pics once it is daylight.

Victa never made a ride on lawn mower they were all bought in and rebadged or ordered from a 3rd party factory.
AFAIK the 8/26E was made for Victa by Norma. 8Hp B & S flathead engine 26' deck Electric start about 1980 ish
The Victa who marketed it have nothing to do with the modern Victa which is owned by Briggs & Stratton.
Victa was bought & sold several times since Merv went broke making the Victa Crusier aeroplane.
Norma also went broke and were taken over by Murray.
Murray went broke and were taken over by Briggs & Stratton.

If you post some photos of the mower some one will recognise it and point you in the right direction

I am happy for you but I am not the person looking for the manual.
I already know how to fix them so I don't need an Owners manual.

How'd you go with getting the manual? Did you get it through this bloke? If that was a successful transaction I'd also love a copy of the manual as I've recently purchased a tidy 8/26e myself. Cheers.

FWIW.
8 hp side valve engine, electric start , 26" cut .
You can fit almost any Briggs SV in there but not an OHV single, unless you mount it sideways.
I dropped an opposed twin Briggs in there for a customer ( he provided the engine ) a while back but had to cut the hood side panels a bit.

The ones I fixed had Peerless boxes & trannies and you can get service information on them from here http://www.mymowerparts.com/pdf/
The parts book is on the Outdoorking King forum https://www.outdoorking.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/6950/victa-ride-on-parts-list.html#Post6950
But you will have to subscribe to the list to download it ( $ 5 ), worth doing & Bruce is really good, he has a shop at Concord with lots of NOS parts that are not listed on the web page.
