Update!!!!!! Was about to tackle the valve cover seal and found motor to be locked up with fuel dripping thru carb and overflowing onto the floor.
since I was due for routine service this coming spring so I had it done early and had the carb checked.My service guy
changed the carb and problem solved .No more smoking at all.I never would have figured it was the carb but it was.I
have a great service guy and it made the entire problem a simple one to remedy and all I had to do is help him push the tractor onto his trailer.Charlie
