will a transmissionout of a murray mower work in a ariens mower

No..... Ariens were made by ayp, and gravely. The Murray trans axle's won't work. We need to at least see a pic of the mower. Its most likely an ayp manufactured machine. Post model number and serial numbers.

I am going to say yes.
Why? Because they both use a peerless transaxle. And I have done it.
The only two things you need to look at are how the shift rods hook up.
And how the brake rod hooks up.
Both the transaxle and mowers have two sets of holes that you can use for installing.
And some of the Murrays used axles with a bolt the hold the wheel on as most AYP use a clip.
Sit the mowers side by side and compare after looking for a few mins you will see how easy it is to change them.
