I am going to look at this. Guy wants 80 bills. Ran well last year (I know, the check is in the mail...) but if it is not a major mechanical problem I am thinking this could be a good deal. Any thoughts.

I would offer $50, and only if I wanted it BAD. They may accept the offer, or meet you in between. If not, leave your info and walk. Just my 2 cents worth.

I'd also check the compression. If the engine isn't sound (fixable with reasonable effort), the price is way too high.
Also, look it over piece-by-piece -- look for anything that looks bad. You could also test the spark.
Pricing is highly variable by region, but my feeling is that $80 for a sound but not running mid-1960s Lawn-Boy would be a pretty good deal here in the South.
I think prices are probably higher here because I never see (locally) the great deals that I hear about in this forum.

Thanks guys. I am supposed to meet this guy on Monday. I will bring my spark and my compression tester. What is good compression on these? I am guessing from reading that it is 105-120? I am used to checking chain saws. Thanks for the deck idea too. Is it possible to unbolt the muffler in one of these so I could have a look at the cylinder and piston?

Found out today that I am SOL. The owner sent me an email around 1 pm. that he had sold the unit. I couldn't get there until 6 pm. tomorrow. I replied back that I did appreciate the considerate heads up. Ya snooze ya lose.
