Upon replacing the piston rings, i messed up the very thin shimmy that is on the crankshaft resting on the oil pan.
Looking up parts diagram,they don't show this part. Is it sold with the crankshaft or evil thought- can i live without it??

That is likley to be a thrust washer put there to control the up & down movement of the crank case.
Usually mower engines do not have one there ( although they should ) but mechanics will put one in to make up for wear.
I have limited experience with Tecumseh engines but there are others here who can give you the good oil.
Assemble the engine, with gasket but no sealant then measure the up & down play and post it so w can see if it is in specifications.
