Stihl HL100 Fuel Primer makes squeaking sound, even when half full

On an HL100 I have a slightly different problem.

Lately fuel leaks from the tank or lines when it is sitting flat. The tank has no obvious defects.
Then with the tank half full and the fuel filter below the gas level, the primer bulb just makes a squeaking sound when pressed, No gas is brought up. The squeaking sound is inside the tank.

I removed the tank and all lines appear to be in tact. The filter line is firmly fitted into the filter.

For a closer look, Not sure how to remove the small round white cap carrying 2 lines into the top of the tank. It is hard plastic and not a flexible grommet as with some Stihl saws or trimmers. It has a flat white plastic tab, but firm pressure under that tab with a flat screw driver won't seem to lift it.

Suggestions welcome.

Primers squeak because they have check valves in them.
You tank should hold 10 psi then vent the excess pressure.
The vent is in the top of the tank.
Usually a blocked vent will cause fuel to get pushed into the engine when the tank is over pressurised.
If it is leaking when sitting on the floor then there is a tank problem, vent, cap or a leak in the carb although the latter generally causes poor running as well.
If the unit is in one piece, get some spray talcum powder , wipe the tank dry and spray it liberally with the powder.
The leak till then wash the powder away so you will know where it is coming from.

If it does not leak in use then tip the fuel out when you have finished using it then start & run the engine dry.
This is the beast way to store hand held engines so is a good habit to develop.
