Saw this comment from twall on a post from 2011:

As a piece of trivia, the turtle's name beside the Snapper logo? SAM.

Stands for: Snapper American Made

Oh,, OK,, I did,nt know the turtle even had a name.

Years ago someone at Snapper came up with a sales slogan to encourage dealers to buy and sell more Snappers. "A turtle doesn't move forward unless he sticks his neck out" or something close to that.

That's something I wasn't aware of. Pretty neat. American-made...those were the days.
