New kid on the block. I have an ex mark fh500v motor that was running fine for many years. I took a break from cutting and after about a half hour, on startup, it now only runs on one cylinder. No smoke, no noise, no power. Not a fuel problem. I changed plugs and noticed that I have compression on one side but not the other. After some reading it appears that there is a coil problem with this motor. I am going to start looking at it today but I don't want to start changing parts. Any regular problem areas on this motor? Thanks
No compression on one side is probably the cause of your problem, not the coil. I'm betting a blown head gasket. Here is a service manual which may help, but I caution that installing a head gasket on a Kawasaki with having done it before can lead to danger. They do things a bit differently.
