...I own a Poulan 17HP 42" cut riding mower. I took the deck in to be repaired, purchased a new deck belt and when I put the deck back on, my mower blades engage upon starting the engine. I can move the lever that engages the blades up and down fine, and the blades continue to spin when it is engaged. I have no ideas.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

the belt is either not installed properly, or is too short.
