Replacing the "Line Trimmer Carrier Plate" on the Craftsman #77374 Wheeled Trimmer

I am not quite as handy as I'd like to be, and am having problems getting the trimmer head disassembled. I'm sure it's an easy solution that I haven't been able to discover.

I've removed the "Line Trimmer Mow Ball Bolt" but can't seem to remove the Mow Ball. The Mow Ball rotates freely (as it should, and as it does even with the bolt attached). However, it is solidly in place and I've even pried a little to see if it would work free. It feels solidly in place.

Do I need to use more force, am I approaching this wrong? I've attached an image summarizing the deets. Any help is appreciated.
