If you have a clear path, I don't see why not. Watch out for possible snap ring. Just don't mark up the crank shaft. If you don't have a seal remover, and providing your seal does not have a metal shell, you can poke a hole in the old one, screw in a small sheet metal screw in the hole and pull on that screw to remove.
