**** typo on listing as I miss read the info and is a 66549 NOT 65549... RE: CUB CADET 3235 with KOHLER COMMAND PRO CH22S-66549 HEY Y'ALL.. the SAM, AKA: SMART SPARK, AKA: SPARK ADVANCE MODULE, IS NO LONGER FUNCTIONING AND THE COILS APPEAR TO BE ORIGINAL.. I AM LEANING TO REPLACING THE IGNITION SYSTEM WITHOUT THE SAM AND CONVERT IT. IVE DONE SEARCHES AND HAVE SEEN POSTS WHERE POPLE HAVE DONE IT. BUT NO SPECIFICS ARE EVER LISTED... WOULD SOMEONE BE KIND AND LEND ME THEIR KNOWLEDGE ON THIS AND INFORM ME AS TO WHAT I NEED TO PURCHASE AND HOW TO CONVERT THE IGNITION OVER. I APPRECIATE THE HELP GUYS. AS I STARTED THIS IN OCTOBER AND STILL HAVE A MOWER SITTING IN THE GARAGE DISASSEMBLED. LOL THANKS ILLENGIN FOR POINTING THAT OUT AS I WAS SHOOTING MYSELF IN THE FOOT AND DID NOT REALIZE... JT

They had a change in the coils on that engine. Make sure you coils are OK.

It appears your spec number should be 66549 not 65549 , so double check that please. Kohler has a warning on the dealer parts lookup page saying that you have the analog spark advance, and if upgraded to the newer style ignition will cause performance problems.

The are saying the older analog spark advance module is available for purchase,

1st off may I say the vast knowledge y'all have on this site is amazing! and to determine that I typo'd part of the spec number says to me man this guy knows his *****... Gentleman I am thankful y'all are giving me some advice.. I have edited and added some pics and both coils are reading ohms in proper range. I will double check. she cranks and cranks and wants to catch and almost does start all day long and just gives a nice back fire. it must be the spark is off.. and the last time it ran, it ran great and parked it with no backfires or anything.. went out to start it again afew days later and has been this ever since. I am a big fan of performance and buy and modify everything! drives the mrs crazy.. lol and if I can improve the ignition system (because I am keeping tractor for many yrs) and pos make it easier in the future and run better then i want to replace the entire system. but if y'all feel the system is the best performing ignition then lets fix her up.. but from what ive read the spark advance is crap.. and people disliked it then and now. gentlemen tell grasshopper what to do.. lol

ILENGINE, reynoldston, mechanic mark. thanks guys y'all dont know it but when this sucka fires up, I will be the shizzle fosho.. the mrs is just waiting for me to load it up and take to the repair shop.. every day now she gets that little jab.. lol and now she is even telling people to ask me how is the cub running? lol

ILENGINE older analog? do you have a part number to reference to? I posted some pictures too. On my sam is "24 584 09 REVD 09147"

I have ran across bad coils on that engine but if they tested OK good to go. I see the bike in the background what is it? I also see the Honda ATV.

The 24 584 09 is the Analog SAM. With a note on the Kohler dealer site to do not convert to the DSAM/DSAI using the kit or parts, because performance will suffer.

man that just sks. i hate to just repair it and not modify it some. ill have to write this one on the calendar for sure. thanks yall. i better test this 1 more time because ive got spark on both cylinders and have fuel flowing
