Pony Seat Fix

Hi Folks,

I'm poor. My Craftsman riding mower suffered an
expensive parts failure. The cost of parts were
more than buying a used riding mower. $300
for an electric clutch/w switch and the deck is
wearing out.

I found a used Troy-Bilt Pony for $500 in good
shape. That's a good deal on a cheap mower. I
have 1 and 1/2 acre of fairly level ground, so it'll
do.

The first thing I had to do was fix it so it would
mow in reverse. Surprisingly, all I had to do was
to just bend one small piece of metal and wallah!

Next was the seat was too small. The back was
too short and it was too far forward.

It took a drill and some finagling, but I got my old
Craftsman seat to fit on it and it is far enough
back to be fairly comfortable.

That seat makes the mower look smaller.

My poor old Craftsman sure looks chimpsey
though, lol

I can use it to pull my garden cart because it
has more HP than the Pony.

Next, I'm going to weld the drive to the old
Craftsman so the blades will turn all the time.
Then, I'll try to figure out some way to
disengage it.

It'll be only for an emergency,

I went ahead and installed a shut-off valve on the
fuel line after the fuel filter. I didn't smell gas in
the oil. I just did it as a precaution after reading
about problems folks were having with their Pony's,
