iam rebuilding a 5 hp b. an s. engine ,dose the gear post with the nobs for the valves have to go in at a certian spot ,for the valves an piston to work the same?an if it dose how do i know where to put it in the right way.
If you are talking about the camshaft, then they have to be times. The mark on the crankshaft gear has to line up with the mark on the camshaft gear. Normally looks like a dot either in line with a tooth or between two teeth.
