I need all the help I can get, how can I be sure that I am not overseeding when I am planting? I think it would be okay as long as its not "too much" but I could be wrong here too.

Almost every type of seed you buy has directions right on the package. You are right, you want to be sure to only plant as many as it says and as far apart as the directions say. Each seed needs its own room to grow.

Broadcast spreaders have adjustment settings on them that you set according to the directions on the seed bag. As long as you go by the directions, you cant go wrong.

Pay close attention to how far out the seeds fly out of the spreader. A common cause of over seeding is when the seeds "double up" so to speak
