If all else fails... improvise...I've made filters from MEDIUM density foam rubber (found often in packaging materials) OR even a womans KOTEX pad ... don't laugh .... it works quite well and is cheap ...comparitively speaking .. :thumbsup:
Yes, improvising has crossed my mind and I even have a pair of socks worn out I could cut the top off to use.
I don't even have the old one for an example. This saw is about 35 years old with very few hours so I was either sold a saw without a filter or old age deteriorated the original filter and that lil ole piston swallowed it bit by bit as it fell apart.
Now there you go !! Ain't it great to have this site where people you don't even know ... got your back !!

Senior... might be a good idea to stockpile a few of those items ... old things have a habit of disappearing !!
