I have a 12 year old yard machine that decided to quit all forms of forward and reverse movement. I took the transmission apart and found no broken parts. Today I went to check if maybe I had a broken axle. Both wheels move independent of each other no matter if transmission is engaged or not. When moving wheels shouldn't the pulley on top move if the tranny's in gear? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thx

If you turn one wheel and the other goes the opposite direction then the differential is good. Now with the tranny in gear, turn both wheels in the same direction, and it should turn the top pulley. Of you can turn the pulley and see if the wheels turn or not.
