Tried comparing to wiring diagrams I found online. Colors don’t match up or connections 100%
Please help me figure out why the battery won’t charge.

I think this is the regulator here.
Looks like the orange and purple wires went to the connector since the connector looks corroded inside on two pins. I’m guessing.

on the other side I’m not sure where’s they go.
the red wire that is cut goes to the lights with the green one.
can someone help me with where the orange and purple wires go?

The purple wire should be the power return to the battery and the orange goes to the battery light on the dash if fitted
I gather this is a mower you bought used

Yes there is a Led display up top says 9v-10v when running along with those red lights for pto, oil and parking brake.

is the purple wire direct to battery? I could just add a matching gauge wire I have.
Yes I just picked it up. Works good except this little issue.

Well that was a dumb question. The wiring I found here obviously shows only one battery wire but it looks like it charges back through the solenoid. Similar to older cars & trucks without an ammeter.
I tried looking at the pics of the harness here to figure out the colors but it now looks to me like the rectifier although possibly correct replacement, the color wires don’t match the schematic.

I don’t wanna have to buy a complete harness only for this one stupid section. So if anyone has pics of their own LT1045 wiring on that side of the engine. That would help me solve this.

(deleted the pdf because it wasn’t helpful)

They don't match up for a reason. The engine you have is a transplant. The original did not have a voltage regulator. Now that you do have a voltage regulator you have run a wire to the B+ of the battery (starter solenoid terminal that goes the battery) and run a wire from the carburetor fuel solenoid the + side of the light. Now the light will stay on as long the ignition is in the run position.

Ok so good news so far.
I found a fella who had the same mower and asked him to shoot me some pics.
looks like the orange is extra on my regulator.
his just has a purple between two whites.
there is an orange looped back into the connector on the engine side which makes me think the return juice is also fed to the display on the dash. I also don’t have a loose blue wire anywhere on mine like his connector.
so here is what I did.
I rewired the lights that was obvious.
red/red green/green.
then the red/white on harness side I wired to the orange on my regulator.
I ran a fat 12g red cable from battery post to the purple on the regulator. I could’ve ran to solenoid but decided to go direct.
Works!

This is my fix. Purple and orange around the starter come from regulator.
red cable is my addition to battery.
the blue connector on the red wires is for the lights.

Here are the two pics that helped me
Solve this. You can clearly see the regulator and the orange loop.
compared to my wiring I don’t have the orange, purple on engine side of the connector. That’s what’s corroded gone.
on the harness side I don’t have the blue or the fat red.
the fat red is a dead giveaway for power.

hope this helps someone else in the future.
