So this one baffles me. I have a newer Lawn Boy that idles really high when you start it up. Tecumseh engine.I have checked linkages and went through the carb. It seems to get better once it warms up. If I hold the primer bulb down it seems to lower the rpm as well. The governor looks like it is working and connected properly. Any ideas?
From your discription, it seems to be running lean on start up. I would look for loose connections either at the carb mount or intake manifold to block.
